Euler Notebook

Invention Coach:

Motivation:

A Digital, Math Assistant

The Euler Notebook project aims to make an electronic notebook for doing math using handwritten input. There is an “expert assistant” that typesets formulas, verifies the work, and makes helpful suggestions. The Notebook will also allow the user to write prose, draw diagrams, perform calculations, plot results, and more.

An Overdue Improvement for Mathematicians

Math has been done for 300 years in a conventional way with a conventional syntax, typography, and style. Using the Euler Notebook should feel like doing math on paper, only better.

Story:

Mathathon-Inspired Digital Notebook

David Jeschke created the Euler Notebook project to solve his own need for a handwriting-based math assistant. Together, he and Robert Read made progress on several fronts, and David donated the project to Public Invention in 2019.
